John is a graduate of Bates College and has a Masters of Science in Education from S.U.N.Y. College at Buffalo. In addition, he has done additional graduate study in both linguistics and adult education at IIT, DePaul University, and National Louis University. In his career as a training developer, John has had to learn many different jobs: from changing tires on a Ferrari, to selling mortgages, to programming computerized switches for paper mills, and blending the motor oil for your car. This practical experience, coupled with his training in education, gives John a unique perspective on the challenges of learning on the job.
In his work developing custom training, John has created programs for many different companies, including these: Big O Tires, Midas Internationl, Tire Kingdom, Sears, Andrew Corporation, Centex Home Equity, Lemstone Books, Nalco, Snap-on Tools, Westlake Financial Services, Valvoline, and McDonald’s.
John is an active member of Toastmasters, and is an officer in two Toastmasters clubs. For 2012-2013, John served the Chicago Toastmasters district as a Division Governor. He lives in Arlington Heights, IL where he plays golf, rides his bike, and builds furniture. He admits that he is no threat whatsoever to Tiger Woods or Lance Armstrong and he still has all ten fingers.
